Saint James's Primary School

Dublin 8,  Co. Louth

In 2017, we began our teacher training and were assigned a primary school in pairs. Myself and my peer were assigned to Dublin 8's St. James's Primary school, a hidden treasure situated beyond the chaos of Thomas Street. We taught visual art to a 1st year class with 18 students for 3 weeks for 2 hours once a week and based our learning content on the theme of 'Once upon a place' which was a 3d clay focused unit of learning. students were asked to create pinch pot 'monsters' and eventually produce a theatrical background for the monster to live in.

Not only was this experience a LOT of fun, but it emphasised pupil's kinaesthetic skills and allowed for experimentation and playful exploration.  Please hit the bottom on the left to see a presentation of what we got up to in length.
